Maria Augusta Ramos: Exposing the System

The Trial Maria Augusta Ramos

Film index A to Z

O processo

As gripping as any fictional thriller, The Trial is a legal documentary that follows the daily twists and turns of the trial that led to the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff, Brazil’s first democratically elected woman president. Ramos does not hide her allegiance to the president as she captures the Kafkaesque proceedings, their result pre-determined, with exceptional attention to detail and narrative structure. A deeply political film, The Trial is a terrifying portrait of the subversion of a democratic institution. (BD)
