Natural Stories

The Seer and the Unseen Sara Dosa

Films index A to Z

In Iceland, the stories of a people hidden in nature have been passed down for many generations. Ragga Jónsdóttir is one of the few peoplem in contact with this invisible world. Sara Dosa follows her in her fight to protect elves’ natural habitat against a construction boom that has taken off since the crisis of 2008. Against a backdrop of majestic landscapes, this story, with its magical realist side, looks at environmentalist resistance against an obsolete economic system. By focusing on the spiritual forces underlying human societies, the director draws attention to minority cultures, often the first victims of environmental disaster, as well as what those cultures can teach others at a time when our ways of thinking and living need to evolve.
