Den fortabte kriger

Twenty-three year-old Mohammed, brought up in the UK since the age of three, becomes radicalized during a short prison sentence at the age of 19 and soon after travels to his home country of Somalia to join Al-Shabaab. Almost immediately regretting his decision, Mohammed goes into hiding in Mogadishu where he meets his young bride Fathi, a UK citizen herself who eventually goes home pregnant with their child. Directing duo, Nasib Farah and Søren Steen Jespersen, follows this couple as they try to reunite, faced with a categorically unforgiving European system, equally categorical family duties and the nascent realization that they are of two traditions. This complex portrait of Muslim youth, alternating between Africa and Europe, is an eye-opening exploration of struggling identity. (SM)
