Laura Huertas Millán: Toward a decolonized ethnography

La libertad Laura Huertas Millan

Films index A to Z

Produced at Harvard University’s Sensory Ethnography Lab, La libertad visits a matriarchal indigenous community in Oaxaca, Mexico, where women weave on backstrap looms using an ancient Mesoamerican technique, passed down for millennia. Weaving gives the film its formal structure as it explores the links between craft, creativity and liberty, elegantly organizing and framing the lines, shapes and movements of the weavers.

Presented by Cinéma Moderne, MOMENTA I Biennale de l'image and 24 Images
