La cordillera de los sueños

Following Nostalgie de la lumière and Le bouton de nacre, La cordillère des songes concludes Patricio Guzmán’s trilogy on the geography and politics of Chile. This time, the illustrious filmmaker turns his attention to the imposing Andes, which overlook his native city of Santiago. With narration covering everything from his country’s physical geography and geology to its political history, Guzmán ponders the amazing natural monument that is the visible but nonetheless enigmatic mountain range. Listening to his compatriots, he explores Chileans’ complex relationship with the land and his own exile, while observing the emergence of a new generation of artists who are prepared to take up the cause of resistance.
