The Song

Marne-la-Vallée. Before the 1990s, nobody had heard of the small town on the outskirts of Paris – until Disney showed up to build a new fantasy world. A hilarious, brilliantly critical futuristic fiction in the vein of a documentary in progress, The Song is the story of three childhood friends who are competing in an ABBA lookalike contest. One of them decides to write her own songs, but her lyrics are annoyingly banal, driving not only the three women’s friendship but the region’s entire artificial world to the precipice. An original and very relevant farce about the future of our materialistic societies. (BD)
