Disappearance: Hong Kong Stories Shannon Walsh

Film index A to Z

Samson Young talks to us about a modest temple where he likes to pray to a deity that appreciates the arts. Linda Chui-han recalls her childhood in a working-class neighbourhood where class distinctions were stifling and downtown seemed impossibly remote. Nic Tse explains why he decided to return to central Hong Kong to open his tattoo parlour in a typical old-town building. These three testimonials are all doors to interior worlds and a singularly intimate vision of Hong Kong. A 360° short by Shannon Walsh that invites us to roam the streets and notice the small neighbourhood details that our three subjects describe with great passion. (BD)
