Beautiful Things Giorgio Ferrero, Federico Biasin

Film index A to Z

Where do they come from and where do they go? Federico Biasin and Giorgio Ferrero examine the countless inanimate objects in our lives through a four fold portrait: four men, four jobs, four steps in the hidden world of consumerism. From oil exploration to a massive cargo ship, from an electro-acoustic testing chamber to a waste-sorting facility, the filmmakers seek out the solitary workers who make our Western way of life possible. They transform the journey into an audiovisual symphony, driven by spectacular images and captivating music and sound. Avoiding banality or lecturing, this unusual, multi award-winning essay is an unsettling reflection on our world. (ACO)
