RIDM+ APRIL 2019

Thursday, April 25, 7p.m., Cinéma du Parc

M directed by Yolande Zauberman
France | 2018 | 105minutes
En version originale yiddish sous-titrée en français

Trailer HERE

“M” is for Menahem, a prodigy with a golden voice who was abused by members of his community. Fifteen years later, he returns to search for the culprits in.theneighbourhoodwhere he was born, Bnei Brak, the world capital of Orthodox Judaism. It is also a return to a world he loved, on a path to liberation: his is not a quest for revenge, but for reconciliation. It is an unforgettable journey to a very dark place, in search of hope and fellowship.

“What is extraordinary about Yolande Zauberman’s film, M, is that revenge is quickly shown to be a false path, and what we witness is something much bigger and better: a form of reconciliation achieved thanks to the grace of the camera and the intelligence of the filmmaker.” - Libération
