Zeki Müren Hotline Beyza Boyacioglu, Jeff Soyk

Film index A to Z

Zeki Müren Hotline explores the intriguing story of Turkish singer Zeki Müren. With dozens of albums and millions of fans, from the 1950s through 90s Müren was not only one of the greatest singers of traditional Turkish songs, but an icon of Turkey's LGBTQ+ underground. Rather than a classic biography, Zeki Müren Hotline creates a space for collective memory, inviting anyone who wants to talk about their connection with Müren to leave a message on an answering machine. A selection of the messages were then transformed into an interactive experience, coming together in a sensitive and true portrait of the singer and, more broadly, of an important period in Turkish cultural history. During the RIDM, a Canadian phone line will be open.
