Our People Will Be Healed Alanis Obomsawin

Film index A to Z

Le chemin de la guérison

The peerless Alanis Obomsawin returns to take us to the Cree community of Norway House, one of Manitoba’s largest indigenous communities, located 450 km north of Winnipeg. The settlement is home to a unique school, with an innovative and progressive instructional system. With the same rigour and sensitivity that has characterized her work for decades, Obomsawin meets the children and their teachers, creating a portrait through which she celebrates actions being taken to help First Nations people reconnect with their culture and reclaim their sovereignty despite traumas past and present. There is hope in spite of everything, thanks to initiatives aimed at building a better future for indigenous communities.

Presented in collaboration with The Montréal First Peoples Festival and Ici Radio-Canada
