Kate Plays Christine Robert Greene

Film index A to Z

Robert Greene (Actress, RIDM 2014) is among the documentary filmmakers most fascinated by the concept of performance. After filming the life of his actress neighbour, he takes the approach one step farther with a film on a fictitious premise: preparation for filming of a fake film about Christine Chubbuck, a television presenter who committed suicide on the air in 1970. Accompanied by the filmmaker, young actress Kate Lyn Sheil goes to Florida to research and prepare for the role. But she learns almost nothing and starts to question her choice of career. Blurring every possible line between fiction and documentary, the film exposes the essence of the actor’s work, while questioning the original project itself.
